4 Best Korean Grammar Checkers to Help Correct Your Mistakes

Grammar, especially when it vastly differs from your native language, can be a difficult hurdle that you need to surmount if you want to really become fluent in Korean.

But online Korean grammar checkers can help you learn Korean grammar by pinpointing where you’re struggling in the way of sentence structure, composition, semantics, morphology, honorifics and all that jazz.

So let’s check out some checkers to help you in your language learning journey!

1. Korean Spelling/Grammar Checker

Korean spelling and grammar checker

Price: Basic version is free

This Korean grammar checker may seem a bit complicated, especially since the interface is entirely in Korean, but it’s actually very simple.

Still, it’s probably best for intermediate and advanced learners.

Using this grammar checker is easy. Just copy and paste blocks of Korean text into the box and click the blue button to submit it or the green button to clear your work. Select the second checkbox next to 강한 규칙 적용하기 (ganghan gyuchig jeog-yonghagi — “apply strong rules”) for a more in-depth grammar analysis. Each error found in your grammar will have its own box on the right-hand side of the screen with corrections.

The basic version of this checker is free to use and is perfect for more experienced learners who want to quickly check their grammar for straightforward mistakes.

2. Learn Korean – Grammar

Android | iOS

Learn Korean Grammar

Price: Free

Sometimes an app is just way more useful than an in-browser checker, especially if you want to learn about grammar concepts and correct your own grammar on the go.

This app isn’t a grammar checker in the traditional sense, but it can certainly be used as one. For the most part, this app is an instructional guide to learning different aspects of Korean grammar.

However, the search function can be very useful to someone who wants to check the grammar of a phrase or short paragraph they’ve written. Simply look up keywords to see the correct grammatical uses of them in Korean.

For example, if you look up the phrase “Nice weather, isn’t it?” you’ll then be able to see how that phrase is correctly written and where in the sentence each word is located. You can also take lessons on different niche aspects of grammar and quiz yourself on your knowledge.

The app is free to use with in-app ads and is perfectly suitable for all levels of learners, though advanced learners may find that the grammar concepts explored aren’t complex enough to be a challenge.

3. kGrammar App

Android | iOS

kGrammar App

Price: Free

Here we have another awesome Korean grammar app that’s definitely more on the traditional side of grammar checkers, and that has a ton of additional great features.

With kGrammar, you can search various words and phrases to see the proper grammar structure in Korean, search different grammar topics, save topics to study for later and access an expansive table of irregular verbs.

The sentence analyzer is a great little grammar checker that’s pretty accurate and easy to use. Plus, the app has a clean and attractive interface void of any distractions other than the occasional ad. The real kicker to this app is that the navigation is entirely in English, as are the corrections in the sentence analyzer, so you won’t have to struggle to understand the grammar corrections given to you.

kGrammar is 100% free to download and use but does contain some in-app ads. Since you can toggle between Korean and English in this app, it’s perfect for all levels of learners.

4. Korean Grammar Dictionary

Korean Grammar Dictionary

Price: Free

Korean Grammar Dictionary is designed more for students who are studying Korean at a college level.

This grammar checker, which is really more of a grammar reference, can be a bit confusing at first, simply because there are so many options. Start by selecting an aspect of grammar from the “Category” box. You’ll then be directed to different word themes in Korean and ultimately individual vocabulary. Once selected, the result will be an in-depth definition of the word or phrase and an example of how it would fit into a sentence grammatically. You can also search by textbook lesson and series.

Since this option is a bit more advanced, we’d suggest that beginner learners look elsewhere. Korean Grammar Dictionary is free to use.

Ready to take your grammar skills to the next level?

While Korean grammar checkers shouldn’t be used in place of studying Korean grammar, they can be really handy in a pinch. They can also help alert you to recurring issues with your grammar, and help you pinpoint what parts of grammar you need to work on more.
