How to Assign and Evaluate Homework with FluentU (New Feature!)

Creating and evaluating homework assignments can be a real chore.

Plus, you have to work extra hard if you want students to actually enjoy doing their homework.

Well, FluentU has a new feature that makes students drop their lame excuses and actually love getting the work done—it’s homework that your students’ dogs can’t eat!

FluentU takes authentic videos—like music videos, movie trailers, news and inspiring talks—and turns them into personalized language lessons.

Now our brand new Assignments feature makes assigning and evaluating homework a breeze. Just take a look at the sample lineup of class assignments shown below:

As you can see, there are no papers to print out, no worksheets to grade—just fun videos to watch and engaging language lessons to be learned! Students can even complete their assignments on their iPhones and iPads, while you use your own handy devices to cue up the assignments.

So, how can you get started building you own lineup of assignments? First, track down the videos you think would be most helpful for your students, just as you usually would.

Got a video? Great! Make sure you are on the details page of the video, where you can see its description and vocabulary content laid out. On this page you’ll now see a brand new option to click on: “Add to Assignments.”

Once you click that, choose which of your classes the homework assignment is for and set a due date.

When you’d like to see how your students are making out with the assignment, use the Progress feature to see how each individual student—and the class overall as a whole—is performing with the assignment.

You’ll see how many times they watched the assigned video, the accuracy of their answers while going through learn sessions and how much progress they’ve made with the video’s learn session exercises.

Thanks to the accuracy and progress measurements, you won’t have to lift a single finger to evaluate assignments anymore.
