Where Is Costa Rica?

First things first! Located in Central America, Costa Rica is a small country of only 5 million. Its capital city, San José, is home to just over 330,000 people.

The western and southern parts of Costa Rica are exposed to the Pacific Ocean, and the Caribbean Sea borders Costa Rica on the east. Neighboring countries are Nicaragua to the north and Panama to the southeast.

What Is Costa Rica Known for?

Costa Rica is known for its wildlife, adventure and rugged beauty!

People visit Costa Rica to get back to nature. If you’re looking for a trip filled with lush greenery, you won’t be disappointed.

The local Spanish-speaking people are known for being friendly and inviting. They love sharing their beautiful homeland with visitors who respect nature and care for the environment.

Whether you want to relax on the beach or rush down a white water rapid, Costa Rica is known as a destination for those who love the outdoors, especially diverse plant and animal life. In fact, Costa Rica is home to 5% of all known plant and animal species in the world!

When Is the Best Time to Visit Costa Rica?

Costa Rica’s climate is tropical. Temperatures are mild year-round, ranging from the low-70s to mid-90s. However, the country itself is made up of many climate zones, so it’s a good idea to do some research if you have a particular area in mind!

The dry season, from mid-December to mid-April, has the best weather for traveling. You’ll be less likely to get caught in a rainstorm. But keep in mind that these months are the peak travel season, so there will be lots of crowds.

If you’d prefer things to be a little quieter, you can always visit just after the rainy season, in June and July. The crowds will be thinner, but be prepared for the occasional rainstorm to pass through.
