Francesca Lupia
Francesca Lupia is a graduate student and freelance writer based in Florence. She started studying Mandarin at age 14 and later received a U.S. State Department scholarship to study in Beijing. As a Stanford University undergraduate, Francesca double majored in Human Biology and Italian and was voted “Most Likely to Move to Italy Permanently” while studying in Florence. She lived up to this prediction in 2019, returning to Italy on a Fulbright grant to study the school experiences of Chinese immigrant youth. Francesca has lived in Italy ever since, continuing her research as an anthropology MA student at the University of Perugia. She dabbles in ESL teaching, enjoys cooking and listening to nerdy podcasts, and is currently learning French.
