Since I started using Fluentu, my language comprehension is developing so quickly that I finally feel like fluency is within reach. The website makes studying enjoyable and it makes progress tangible. I enjoy watching the videos and my kids usually hover around when they hear the Disney songs. I know that they are starting to absorb it as well when I hear them using Spanish or French words in their playtime. Continue reading

After... I am loving FluentU. At first I was a little hesitant about the price, though I understood why the price was higher, since this was all done by a person. I figured I would try the free trial. After two days it became my favorite learning tool, and I have a lot of French apps and books. It's amazing to hear the pronunciation and see what I recognize first, then see what the words look like and see it used in context. It also is extraordinary for helping learn sentence structure, which is exactly what I was looking for. And it never takes more than like 20 minutes a day to do a quick review and learn a new video! I am so excited and grateful to have found this! Continue reading

In only 4 months, I've gotten to a comfortable A2 level in German thanks in large part to my practice on FluentU! I'm actually entertained by studying when I use it; it doesn't feel like work!

I really like learning with the videos. I have studied using other methods and it was very hard to put what you were learning into context. With the videos, not only are you learning new vocabulary,... I really like learning with the videos. I have studied using other methods and it was very hard to put what you were learning into context. With the videos, not only are you learning new vocabulary, you are seeing how it is used. For example the tone which is used, the body language of the person using the phrase and the reaction to the phrase being said. The videos are also very catchy. I find myself singing some of the music videos sometimes helping me reinforce what I learned during the lesson. Continue reading

So very different, from knowing what to say then trying desperately to understand the reply! Also we are able to tap the word in the dialogue and it shows the meaning along with other uses. Actually this concept is fantastic you have such a "thought out" thorough system to help us learn this beautiful language. Fluentu has been a necessity in my studies at school. It's the program I've always wanted, because when I try to watch Spanish clips on youtube a lot of the time the subtitles are wrong. Even if they're right, I always have to have google translate open... It's the program I've always wanted, because when I try to watch Spanish clips on youtube a lot of the time the subtitles are wrong. Even if they're right, I always have to have google translate open at the same time anyways and look things up when I don't know them (which is unfortunately still quite a lot). I love that the subtitles are all right there with correct definitions and other examples. Better than rosetta stone for getting the language down and miles cheaper. Love it!! Continue reading

Pairing word repetition with actual French speakers is more challenging and makes the language stick to a geezer brain like mine.

Fluentu is an amazing platform for learning languages! Its system is intelligent, intuitive and focused on the learner's real needs. The videos and their subtitles are the most amazing feature of the... Fluentu is an amazing platform for learning languages! Its system is intelligent, intuitive and focused on the learner's real needs. The videos and their subtitles are the most amazing feature of the website, allowing you to stop/resume the video in real time if there's a word you don't know. Also the flashcard system is great for learning. The SLS system is also very useful as it lets you refresh the words when you're just about to forget them. The only thing I would still work on is the Already Know feature, as the words practically never get the Mastered status and I have to phisically label them as Already Known, otherwise they will keep popping up in the flashcards, even if I've truly mastered them long time ago. In any case, it's a truly brilliant website, and I'm very glad to pay the monthly rate for the full package as it allows me to save money for private lessons or textbooks... and it's fun on top of everything. I also appreciate that at the native level there are many words that would be considered "specialized" thus allowing me to broaden my vocabulary for my future profession as a translator. I've got a Bachelor's Degree in Chinese in 2011 (very good basics but no fluent reading nor speaking) and since then I hadn't refreshed the language whatsoever. I got back to it since November 2015 with Fluentu and now I am almost able to read a Native text fluently... without even having gone to China once!!! I am very happy about it and I don't fail to reccomend Fluentu to whoever is about to embark on a language-learning journey". What helps me the most in FluentU is the video content. Being exposed to naturally-spoken Chinese is the best defense against a language growing rusty in my experience.

Due to this (and my age), I have a year with no Chinese courses to take. I didn't want to lose my skills so I downloaded this app to occupy myself for a year. Was a bit nervous to spend $$ (tight budget, college) but I don't regret a thing. Free trial*, give it a shot. This is great! You still have to put in time everyday-- even for just 20 minutes. Definitely the most quality self-study I've experienced in the last 5 years. The computer version is better, but the app is great when you have some free-time while waiting for whatever. You get out what you put in, of course, and I actually use the app most of the time and it's still great. Continue reading
