The ending depends on the pronoun (I\/you\/he\/etc.) and verb type (-ar\/-er\/-ir).<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>root or stem of the verb<\/strong> is the part before -ar\/-er\/-ir. Do whatever works until you can remember which ending is which and apply them appropriately.<\/p>\n<p>It would be great if that were all there is to it, but the fun doesn&#8217;t end there.<\/p>\n<p>Once you&#8217;ve got the regular verb endings down, it&#8217;s time to tackle <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fluentu.com\/blog\/spanish\/most-common-irregular-spanish-verbs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">irregular verbs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Irregular Verbs in the Spanish Present Tense<\/h2>\n<h3>Stem-changing Verbs<\/h3>\n<p>Some verbs <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fluentu.com\/blog\/spanish\/spanish-stem-changing-verbs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">change their stem<\/a> in the present tense. They usually change in all forms except <em>nosotros<\/em> and <i>vosotros<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;re also categorized by the type of change, for example, <em>&#8220;o&#8221; \u2192 &#8220;ue&#8221; irregular verbs, they&#8217;ll come to you naturally and you&#8217;ll soon find your own ears wincing when listening to an improperly conjugated verb.<\/p>\n<h3>Irregular in the First Person<\/h3>\n<p>Other verbs are irregular in the first person, but regular in all other forms. These are relatively simple to learn.<\/p>\n<p>One example is <em><strong>dar<\/strong><\/em> (to give).<\/p>\n<p>The first person form is irregular: <em>doy<\/em> , as in <em><strong>doy<\/strong> un
