They are conjugated in much the same way as regular <em>-er<\/em> verbs, but with occasional spelling changes. The spelling changes, which only occur in a few conjugations, are done to maintain proper pronunciation.<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few examples of &#8211;<em>cer<\/em> and &#8211;<em>ger<\/em> verbs:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><i>placer <\/i> (to place)<\/li>\n<li><i>effacer <\/i>\u00a0(to erase)<\/li>\n<li><i>lancer <\/i>\u00a0(to throw)<\/li>\n<li><i>nager <\/i>\u00a0(to swim)<\/li>\n<li><i>d\u00e9ranger <\/i>\u00a0(to disturb)<\/li>\n<li><i>diriger <\/i>\u00a0(to direct)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Stem-changing verbs<\/h3>\n<p>Stem-changing verbs take the regular endings, but their stems change spelling, with two different versions of each one depending on the grammatical person.
