Over the past year, we have worked hard bringing you some of the web’s best Chinese learning content on our blog, Twitter, and Facebook. Yes, you may already be familiar with our essential chengyus, Chinese learner interviews, hot on Weibo, No Nonsense Newbie Tips, and daily language tweets. But today, we are thrilled to make an announcement signaling a new era for us:
FluentU (beta) will be open for public registrations starting September 3rd!
FluentU is a new way to learn Chinese.
With engaging and immersive content, we empower users to learn with fun videos exhibiting the diversity and vibrancy of modern Chinese culture. Watch our intro video here.
We have been working on this for the better part of a year, and are thrilled to bring this concept to fruition. Think about it- a website featuring over 200 (and quickly increasing!) authentic Chinese language online videos featuring a huge variety of content, all expertly subtitled in our smooth video engine, with a built-from-scratch dictionary and intelligent vocab review.
Traditional tools like textbooks have been essential for us. But what we’ve found is that we learn best through rich, engaging experiences. It’s easy to remember words when they’re reinforced by experiences that move you. We also believe early exposure to engaging content helps prevent learners from giving up before they’re truly fluent.
We are thrilled to have been featured on some of the most respected Chinese-learning and tech blogs out there, including iLearnMandarin, Chinese Hacks, Confused Laowai, Tiger Startups and Peckish Laowai. All are worth reading, but the general consensus is simple: finally.
Yes, finally there is a website that does online video based Chinese learning right.
If you can’t wait for September 3rd, then don’t!
With just 2 weeks until public beta launch, we are offering a free private beta invite to anyone who re-tweets or mentions us on Twitter. All it takes to feast your eyes on the web’s newest and hottest Chinese learning website is a simple @ or retweet! Find us on Twitter here, or simply click here to Tweet!
Thanks to our readers for your support over the months, and we couldn’t be more proud and excited to introduce FluentU to a new set of Chinese language learners. We have lots of updates planned in the weeks and months (and years) to come, so stay tuned!
If you liked this post, something tells me that you'll love FluentU, the best way to learn Chinese with real-world videos.
