FluentU Launching Public Beta in 3 Days!
Since announcing our planned beta launch less than two short weeks ago, we have welcomed hundreds of new users, uploaded dozens of new videos, and been featured on some of our favorite Chinese learning blogs (all the while tweeting and blogging as usual of course).
If you have been living under a rock (one without wifi that is), FluentU is a new way to learn Chinese.
While textbooks continue to be necessary for some learners, we believe immersive experiences with authentic video content showcasing the vibrancy of modern Chinese culture, supported by the right learning tools, simply can’t be matched.
We are building the world’s first “video textbook”, and couldn’t be more excited to introduce it to the world.
After polishing the site over the past few months with a select number of invited users (private beta), we will now be opening the site to the public (public beta). Starting Monday, anybody with an email address can visit our home page, and register for free and immediate access to our entire video content library and vocab review features. We are still however in beta, meaning we will continue testing new features, sticking with the ones you like, ditching the ones you don’t (so cut us a wee bit ‘o slack going forward).
As it turns out, bloggers and writers with early access share our enthusiasm and excitement. Below are excerpts of some of the blogs and publications which have featured us thus far:
“The aim of the site is to teach you the language via short online videos that feature native speakers interacting in a natural environment: TV! Simple concept, right? And it’s an effective one. I’ve only used it for a few days, but I am already addicted.”
In addition, we have had tons of emails, tweets, Facebook comments, and the like pouring in from our hundreds of engaged users offering their feedback and suggestions.
Starting almost exactly one year ago (to the day) as a humble blog, we have covered a lot of ground in the 12 months since. September 3rd marks a new beginning for us, and as we continue welcoming new users, uploading new videos, and improving the player and vocab review, we will always want to hear what you think.
